Hockey Greats Fantasy Camp
Sure, the kids always get to go to summer camp, but when was the last time the adults did? If you’re a hockey fan, that time is now.
This August 3rd -7th, NHL Hall of Famers, Stanley Cup Champions, and legends Bob Bourne, Clark Gillies, Theo Fleury, Kelly Hrudey, Billy Smith, Dave Semenko, Bryan Trottier, Larry Melnyk, Bob Nystrom, Ron Flockhart, and Doug Bodger all congregate in Kelowna to put on the 4th Annual Hockey Greats Fantasy Camp. Don’t let their ages and Hall of Fame statuses fool you, they’re all still really good at hockey.
The unique nature of the Hockey Greats Fantasy Camp is that it brings the avid hockey fan together with some of the NHL’s past and current heroes in a relaxed week of on-ice competition and social events. The camp allows guests the chance to skate alongside former NHL stars, and get to know them away from the rink too. It’s a pressure-free environment of hockey, golf, casuals and laughs.
Basically an all-inclusive hockey vacation, registrants are granted the opportunity participate in 5 days of unparalleled activities alongside celebrity guests, including:
1) A round golf at the picturesque Gallagher’s Canyon Golf Club in Kelowna.
2) A houseboat cruise of Okanagan Lake (includes an open bar, and catering by Cabana Grille), provided by The Executive Boardroom.
3) Accomodations at the 5 star Cove Resort in West Kelowna, and access to all social activities and events. In past years, Bryan Trottier and Clark Gillies shaved their signature moustaches as part of an impromtu midnight charity auction to the tune of a karaoke’d rendition of Sweet Home Alabama. The action is unpredictable, and the laughs and memories are guaranteed to be long lasting.
4) Three days of hockey; practices, scrimmages, and a final showdown for the VT Cup (a replica Stanley Cup, complete with engraved names of past winners) in a charity game. It’s a real “big-league” experience, as tickets are sold to the game, and participants get to play in front of a full arena of fans. Players also receive two personalized jerseys (home and away, with choice of number), a free stick, gloves, and bag courtesy of Winnwell Hockey, as well as various souvenirs and other freebees of all kinds. There are even championship rings.
There will be an open autograph session for any and all fans to get the pros to scribble on whatever they desire prior to the game as well. The game is a lot of fun for players and fans alike. There will be in-game entertainment, so if you can’t attend the entire camp, bring your friends and family for a great afternoon of entertainment.
Previously raising funds for the Rick Hansen Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society, this year’s benefiting charity of ticket sales and donations is the Bob Bourne Family & Friends Foundation; a newly formed charity focused on raising money to assist people living with disabilities by building more assisted living homes, and helping convert the residences of disabled people to a more accessible version.
For a hockey fan, it’s a pretty big deal.
Don’t let this once in a lifetime opportunity come and go without you being there! You can sign up to participate in the entire event, or attend certain singular events. For more information on dates, times, and prices, head over to www.nhlhockeygreats.com

Unfortunately for me, being a resident and citizen of the United States of America, I am excluded from the chance to win the “once in a lifetime opportunity”. #1

You know if I win we’ll have to play on different teams, and you know I’d kick your butt all over the ice, right?
Usually only the guys who have been enjoying more than their fair share of our sponsor (Okanagan Spring Brewery)’s contribution to the camp say such ludacrous things. You just worry about winning your way in first before we talk about me embarassing you in front of Hall of Famers
