Aside from all this writing, I am also a BCRPA certified Personal Trainer by trade. I competed as competitive hockey player from the age of 5; including playing as a professional for a season in Europe, 4 seasons of college hockey in Saskatchewan for Briercrest College in the ACAC, and a season of junior hockey for the Creston Thundercats of the KIJHL. I’ve also coached the Okanagan College Coyotes of the BCIHL for 2 seasons, the Hockey Canada Skills Academy in School District #23, and Okanagan Hockey School. Aside from my Personal Training certification, I also have a B.A. in General Studies from Briercrest College, and NCCP Theory I & II certifications. I also used to, or currently compete recreationally in golf, badminton, snowboarding, wakeboarding, soccer, tennis, basketball, volleyball, and other sports; my training knowledge is not limited to just hockey!
My passion for playing translated into that for training others, stemming from my own training days as a player. Training in the summers with a friend of mine taught me the dedication and drive that is necessary to make physical improvements. It also taught me the value of motivation; having someone with you in the gym to push you to lift those extra two reps, challenge you to throw that extra 5 lbs on the bar, and keep you actually coming to the gym is often the difference between improving and not. Having someone educated in the field of fitness affords you the ability to train smarter, and will undoubtedly get you where you want to go, faster. Does this sound like something you need?
